UPDATE: Addressing Rat Lungworm Disease with New DOH Produce Washing Techniques

Here at Fork & Salad, we understand the seriousness of Rat Lungworm Disease and your concerns as a customer.  We want you to know that we are doing everything in our power to ensure safe, quality produce.  The Hawai’i Department of Health recently released new guidelines on produce washing, specifically addressing Rat Lungworm Disease.  So we wanted to provide an updated video.  Chefs Travis Morrin and Jaron Blosser take you into our kitchen to demonstrate these updated washing techniques.

It’s important for us to stay as informed and aware as possible, and it’s our hope that you’ll do the same.  We wanted to share a few resources to help you with that.  Take a look at the Department of Health’s webpage on Rat Lungworm Disease for information and tips for prevention, whether you live here or plan to visit.

The University of Hawa’i College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources also has a lot of important information for consumers and farmers, like this webpage on how to avoid contracting Rat Lungworm.

If you follow us on social media, you’ll notice we’ve added a hashtag recently:  #EducationAwarenessKnowledge — raising awareness and sharing knowledge is crucial right now.  We have confidence in the sources of our fresh produce, and together with our farms, will continue to be proactive and support local in every way possible.
